Why Must I Learn Math?

Mathematics is largely hierarchical in nature.  In other words, MATH IS CUMULATIVE. Most math classes build on knowledge you’ve gotten in previous math classes. Higher concepts, skill and reasoning are built upon the more foundational concepts and have to be learnt in sequence. Students cannot learn mathematics without learning ‘why’ and “how”. Students should be able to recognise the links between logically connected statements.

Math is important in life because it is used to perform many different daily tasks, such as telling time, reading an odometer, counting change and to make strategic decisions in one’s work life. Most of the topics of physics or chemistry are based on the different concepts of mathematics. At the individual level, mathematics support learning in many fields of study, whether it is science or business. Math is essential because it is the most widely used subject in the world. Every career uses some sort of math. Our effort has been to score the highest possible percentile in each exam. The learning of mathematics also provides an excellent vehicle to train the mind and to develop the capacity to think logically, critically and creatively. Students must build confidence and foster interest in mathematics. Mathematics offers rationality to our thoughts. It is a tool in our hands to make our life simpler and easier.
